Dal Palak Recipe. Chana Dal and Palak Dhaba Style Recipe. Palak Dal Recipe. Spinach and Dal Recipe.

Soak half cup of chana daal/split gram for about half an hour.


Roughly chop your palak/spinach. Remember to clean your spinach twice/thrice in running water.


In a pressure cooker add about 2-3tsp of ghee.


For tempering you'll need below ingredients.


Also roughly chop onions, garlic and few green chilies. 


Let the ghee melt and then add your chopped onions, garlic and chilies. Saute them for a minute and then add half tsp each of cumin, coriander, chilli, turmeric powder and salt to taste. Please note that you can avoid putting chili powder as you've already put green chilies. But yes if you love to have hot and spicy you can go ahead and use chili powder.


Let the masalas mix properly and wait for the masals to leave their aroma. and then add 2 chopped tomatoes.


Once the tomatoes is soft and mushy add your soaked chana dal.


Stir for few minutes to mix with all the spices in there.


Now, it's time to add your spinach.


While putting in the spinach your cooker might be overflowing but wait for a while and everything will go own once water starts leaving. Stir well all the ingredients.


It's time to add 1cup of water and half tsp of garam masala.


Stir well and cover the lid. Let it whistle 3-4times. Turn off the heat and let it settle for 5-7minutes before releasing the pressure. Open the lid now and with a round long handled spoon try to heavily stir rather lightly  mash the dal for everything to come together. Once done add half tsp of ghee and server hot. It's real yummmm. Anyone and everyone will love it.


Serve HOT with rice/phulkas.
