Muri Ghonto(Fish in Moong Daal) Muger Daler Muri Ghonto
I've used Rohu fish head for the below dish. You can use any fish of your choice.
You'll need salt, 1tsp turmeric powder and 1tsp of ginger garlic paste for marination.
Mix the above ingredients with fish head and keep it aside for marination.
In a pan with 2tsp of mustard oil start frying your fish head.
Flip it on both sides to cook them well. My pan bottom has all the masalas stuck and doesn't look clean because I fried all the other fish pieces earlier. :-P
Once done, keep the fried fish aside in a separate bowl.
Now, in the same pan, without any extra oil chop off onion, green chillies and peeled garlic.
Toss them for few minutes with cummin seeds and bay leaves. Don't worry if your pan bottom is not clean. Those are just the masalas.
Add chopped tomatoes
Soak 1 cup of moong daal before hand.
Add in the same pan.
Fry for 4-5 minutes.
Add 2 cups of water and cover the lid. Let the daal cook for 10minutes.
Once the daal is soft enough, add fried fish head.
Stir the daal and with a spatula try breaking the fish head once the daal starts to boil. Also add 1tbsp of garam masala.
Boil for few more minutes and you are done, Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and serve with hot steam rice. Am sure you'll love it.
