Masala Dal Khichdi with vegetables Recipe. Dish of Rice and Legumes. Dal Khichdi Recipe. Festive Style Dal Khichdi Recipe.

First soak rice and dal/pulses mixture for at least half an hour. The mixture contains combination of daals/pulses such as moong dal, green moong, masoor dal and toor/tur dal. And the quantity must be like for half cup of rice you should have half cup of dal mixtures.



Heat a pan/kadai with 1tsp of clarified butter/ghee and add chopped garlic.


Also add 1 chopped onion.


Let it cook till the onions get translucent.


Then add 1 potato. Cut the potato into large pieces.



Also add cauliflowers and french beans. Cauliflower must be of large size.




Add green peas.


Add salt as per taste.


Stir.


Stir till the onions turn brown and separate it out in a bowl and keep it aside. Leave cauliflower in the pan.


Let the cauliflower turn brown too.


As shown below. Turn off the heat. and keep it aside.


Now heat a pressure cooker and add 1tsp of clarified butter/ghee to it.


Add 1tsp of cumin/jeera.


Let it crackle.


Then add 2-3 dried red chili.


Add 1tsp of ginger-garlic paste.


Drain the soaked rice and pulses/dal mixture.


Add soaked rice and dal mixture to the ghee and cumin.


Stir well.


Add 2-3 bay leaves.


Mix well.


Add 1/4th tbsp of turmeric/haldi powder.


Add 1/4th tbsp of chili powder.


Add salt as per taste.


Add 1/2th tbsp of sugar.


Add 1/4th tbsp of garam masala powder.


Mix all.


Add chopped mint leaves.


Add slit green chilies and 1 chopped tomatoes.



Add fried vegetables.


Also add fried cauliflower.



Stir well.


Now it's time to add water.


Also add pinch of garam masala again.


Mix it well.


Cover the lid for about 5-7 minutes.


After opening the lid we see dried form of khichdi.


I personally like khichdi to be bit runny so I'll add more water to it.


Then add chopped coriander leaves.


And you are done with yummy and delicious khichdi.
