Rohu Rui Macher Kalia Recipe Or Spicy Rohu Fish Curry Recipe. Bengali style Fish Curry Recipe.

Clean the fish pieces properly under running water.

Add half tsp of turmeric powder.

Half tsp of red chili powder.

Salt as per taste.

And half tsp of garlic paste.

And 1tsp of mustard oil.

Mix to combine all the ingredients really well and keep it aside for few minutes.

Now take 1 onion, ginger and green chilies for the curry.

You need to ground all of them.

Add little water to make a smooth paste.

Prepare the paste as below and keep it aside. We would need it for the curry.

Now in a pan add 2-3 tsp of mustard oil. And once the oil is smoking hot, start adding you marinated fish pieces one by one.

At this point your flame must be on medium heat. Don't over cook the fishes.

Meanwhile be ready by chopping tomatoes for the curry.

Flip both the sides once turned golden brown.

Keep all the fried fishes aside.

Now, in a bowl with 1/4th cup of water add half tsp of turmeric powder.

1tsp of coriander powder.

And half tsp of dry roasted cumin, coriander and red chili powder. Instead you can also add just the cumin powder. But the other one tastes better.

Add salt as per taste for the curry.

Mix them all and keep it aside.

For tempering you'll need small mustard seeds, cumin and fenugreek/methi seeds. All 1/4th tbsp each.

In the same pan where you had fried you fishes with 1tsp of mustard oil add the above ingredients.

Let it crackle.

Now add you ginger, onion and chili paste.

Give a good stir.

Add your masala mix that you prepared earlier.

Mix it well.

Cover the lid. At this point your flame must be low. Let it cook for 15 minutes.

Keep stirring in between to avoid sticking the bottom.

Once you start the noticing the oil starts separating add you chopped tomatoes.

Again mix it well.

And cover the lid for again 5-7 minutes.

After 5-7 minutes you'll notice that the tomatoes has been well combined and the oil starts to separate.

That's when you can start adding your fried fishes.

Stir once without breaking the pieces.

Add water according to the amount of curry required.

Let it boil on high flame.

Cover the lid.

Chop fresh coriander leaves.

And sprinkle on the top.

And at last add half lemon juice for the extra hint.

And you are ready with my most favorite rohu fish curry.

Get ready to serve with steaming hot rice.
